Phnom Penh, May 13, 2026: GS1 Cambodia, supported by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, held a workshop on "Khmer First, Supporting Local Products 884" held under the vital theme: "Brand Storytelling & Packaging Design." The event aimed to support local producers in improving product branding, regulatory compliance, and sustainable packaging, with MB Bank (Cambodia) Plc. (MBCambodia) serving as the Premium Sponsor.
 

The workshop focused on expanding the scope of Cambodian entrepreneurship by providing insights into branding, packaging innovation, compliance with supermarket labeling standards, and financing opportunities. These topics were presented through the expertise, vision, and perspectives of industry specialists.
 

The event was presided over by H.E. Oknha Nguon Mengtech, Director General of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and representative of Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council for Cambodia. The workshop was attended by members of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, GS1 Cambodia, representatives from the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, various associations, banking partners, retail partners, and approximately 150 merchants and producers.
 

In his opening remarks, H.E. Oknha Nguon Mengtech highlighted the importance of the workshop for entrepreneurs and business owners to prepare for market demands. He emphasized that enhancing branding and quality, combined with standardized packaging, are crucial factors for entering supermarkets or meeting the requirements of international buyers. He urged all producers to prioritize the visual appeal and standards of their packaging as it is a key factor for consumers. Furthermore, he encouraged participants to strengthen internal capacities, financial planning, and quality compliance to build consumer trust and increase commercial potential in both national and international markets.
 

During the event, Mr. Nguyen Anh Khanh, CEO of MBCambodia, stated: "We firmly believe in the potential of Cambodian SMEs.
