Job Description

Job purpose
The Trade Operations & Trade Product Governance Manager serves as the operational backbone of Trade Finance, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant end-to-end execution of service-based and credit-backed trade facilities, including Letters of Credit (LC), Bank Guarantees (BG), Documentary Collections, and trade-related transfers (TTR).
Beyond transaction execution, the role strengthens governance standards, operational controls, and scalable readiness while maintaining clear segregation of duties under the Operations Division and enabling Transaction Banking to focus on sustainable business growth.
The role operates within a group-integrated processing model and ensures effective coordination with MB Group trade and SWIFT teams to maintain operational alignment, data integrity, and cross-border execution standards.

 

Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Trade Execution & Risk Control
- Oversee the full lifecycle of LC, BG, Documentary Collections, and trade-related transfers, ensuring operational accuracy, timely settlement, and clear accountability within MBCambodia.
- Examine trade documents under ICC rules (UCP600, URDG758, ISBP) and internal policies to mitigate discrepancies and regulatory exposure prior to onward coordination with the MB Group processing team.
- Manage issuance, amendments, discrepancy resolution, claims handling, expiry monitoring, and off-balance sheet exposure booking with clear segregation between Sales, Credit, and Operations.
- Prepare and verify trade-related SWIFT messages and coordinate closely with MB Group SWIFT and processing teams to ensure smooth transmission, data integrity, and uninterrupted cross-border execution.
- Maintain structured working protocols with MB Group to ensure service level alignment, escalation clarity, and effective utilization of Group expertise and infrastructure.
2. Trade Product Governance & Standardization
- Maintain and refine trade procedures, templates, and operational guidelines in alignment with MB Group standards to ensure consistency and scalable governance.

- Leverage MB Group knowledge base and best practices to benchmark BG wording, documentation standards, and trade structures while adapting to Cambodian market and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure product documentation and workflow frameworks are validated jointly with relevant MB Group stakeholders where applicable to maintain cross-border alignment.
- Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Credit, IT, Head of Transaction Banking, and MB Group trade counterparts to ensure operational readiness and prevent control gaps prior to implementation.
3. Trade MIS, Fee Oversight & Performance Monitoring
- Develop and maintain Trade MIS dashboards covering volume, exposure, turnaround time (TAT), discrepancies, and expiry monitoring to enhance transparency and proactive risk management.
- Monitor trade-related fee income and provide analytical insights to support pricing review and profitability assessment.
- Leverage operational data to identify bottlenecks, improve efficiency, and support informed decision-making across Operations and Transaction Banking.
4. Scalability, Capability Building & Strategic Support
- Build and maintain a Trade Operations playbook incorporating both MBCambodia practices and relevant MB Group operational standards to ensure knowledge transfer and process continuity.
- Train and mentor junior or trainee staff while facilitating knowledge-sharing sessions with MB Group trade teams to strengthen technical capability.
- Participate in cross-border trade initiatives with MB Vietnam counterparts to enhance operational integration and shared learning.
- Continuously review the service collaboration model with MB Group to optimize turnaround time, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Job Requirement

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in Trade Finance Operations.
- Strong hands-on exposure to LC issuance, BG handling, discrepancy management, and trade-related SWIFT workflows.
- Experience supporting both service-based and credit-backed trade facilities.
- Demonstrated involvement in trade process improvement, governance enhancement, or operational standardization initiatives.
- Exposure to correspondent banking or cross-border trade transactions is advantageous.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of ICC rules (UCP600, URDG758, ISBP, URC522).

- Solid understanding of SWIFT trade-related MT messages and trade transaction workflow.
- Understanding of off-balance sheet exposure management and trade accounting implications.
- Familiarity with core banking systems and trade modules.
